Containment: The Key to Safety with Actions Methods @ Tel Aviv, Israel

Our brains are hardwired to Fight, Flight or Freeze from danger. Unfortunately, long after many traumatic experiences happened, the survivor continues to use those survival defenses, forming rigid patterns that shut down or overwhelm the system with unexpressed emotion. This is especially true of grief. For many survivors, it would have been dangerous to cry out while neglect, violence or abuse was happening, while many associate grief with being a victim. So, deep pain and grief from abuse is often hidden or repressed for years, becoming the proverbial ‘elephant-in-the-room.’

However, tsm has a special Prescriptive Role, the Containing Double (cd), that helps clients work through dissociation and other defenses to access these intense feelings of grief and mourning—safely and without retraumatization.

The cd was one of the rst roles to be developed by tsm. Its efficacy has been researched and it is used throughout the world, across cultures and languages. In this workshop, participants will learn and practice the Containing Double in triads, participate in full TSM Psychodramas, and learn TSM’s Action Safety Structures that enhance group cohesion and provide the overarching container for deep work.

Brain In Action: The Neurobiology of Trauma @ Taipei, Taiwan
Sep 10 @ 9:00 am – Sep 13 @ 5:00 pm
Brain In Action: The Neurobiology of Trauma @ Taipei, Taiwan

People who have experienced traumatic events can have significant changes in the neurobiology of their brain. The right brain holds emotions, relationship information, and unprocessed trauma, often in the form ofashbacks, body memories, intrusive thoughts and dissociated feelings. It is always turned on by an overactive amygdala. The left brain’s coherent function, which provides meaning to stay in the here and now, is interrupted by stress hormones as the result of danger signals from the amygdala.

Participants will learn to use the Body Double (bd) intervention to work with the energetic body and the ‘rhythmic rupture’ it su ers, along with the physical body and the brain, due to traumatic events. The brain-in-action, along with attachment structures, are taught through demonstration and live supervised practice and can be used immediately following the workshop in individual, couples and family therapy, as well as by educators and community organizers. This workshop expands the repertoire of students and practitioners of emdr, eft, sensory motor integration, as well as drama therapy and psychodrama.

TSM Psychodrama and Cultural Identity @ Zagreb, Croatia

Facilitated by Mario Cossa, RDT/MT, TEP and an Action Trauma Team

For many, the term “Cultural Identity” is equated with ethnicity and ancestry alone, when in fact our Cultural Identity is influenced by all the various and sundry elements of our personal history. Whether you were an only child or one of many; whether you are part of a parenting pair, a single parent or step parent; your educational background; your experience as a target of racism and/or marginalization; your age; your gender; your sexual orientation; whether you identify in binary terms; etc. all contribute to the identity that makes you uniquely you, with commonalities and differences from other with whom you interact.

This personal growth workshop uses the Therapeutic Spiral Model™ to explore the ways in which our cultural identities can provide both blessings and baggage that support or hinder our life journeys.  By using the methodology of TSM Psychodrama, we can embrace the strengths and abilities that are part of our heritage and release old messages that hold us back. Join in the co-creation of a confidential and safe container for this vital exploration. Learn how to have a more positive relationship with yourself and others.

Transforming the Trauma Triangle @ Philadelphia, PA

Presented by
Kate Hudgins, Ph.D., TEP
with a TSM Action Healing Team

The Therapeutic Spiral Model’s (TSM) “Trauma Triangle” is a unique configuration that clarifes the destructive cycle of victim, perpetrator, and abandoning authority. Indistinction to Karpman’s Triangle, this last role was created by TSM to explain the subtle, yet damaging, presence of someone who was absent—not there to rescue—i.e., there was no appropriate authority.

The Trauma Triangle represents a closed circuit of energy embedded in the personality structure of those who have survived cruelty or trauma, repeating itself as life-long patterns of abuse and neglect. This training provides tools that empower transformation of self-neglect to self-care and that instill healthy problem-solving.

Participants gain a deeper understanding of the internal personality and neurobiological structure of PTSD; learn to integrate TSM’s Prescriptive Roles & Safety Structures into clinical practice, and experience the power and depth of a TSM group process that is used across cultures.

This workshop offers training hours for Psychodrama and can be a stand-alone or foundation course for TSI’s International Certification Program in Trauma Therapy.
