Whether a beginner in the field, a trainee warming up to the certification exam in 2021, or a practitioner of long standing, this workshop will help you (re)connect with excitement to the roots of psychodrama and sociometry. We will also explore the historical context in which J.L. Moreno’s philosophical musings evolved into the practices that helped lay the foundation for Group and Experiential Therapies.

Weeks 1 & 2 will explore, in action: the historical underpinnings of Psychodrama & Sociometry; Moreno’s theories of the Universalia of Therapy, and the Cannon of Creativity (the dance of Spontaneity and Creativity); the foundations of Sociometry (including the Social/Cultural Atom); and the form and flow of Sociodrama.

Weeks 3 & 4 will explore, in action: the basic vocabulary and techniques of Psychodrama; the 5 elements of a psychodrama; the 4 functions of a psychodrama director (including a practice session); and the basics of Role Theory and Role Analysis.

The workshop parts will be offered in 2 different time zones for accessibility.
