Celebrating Post-Traumatic Growth & Spontaneity
San Rafael, CA
@ IMAGINE! Center for Creativity & Healing

Presented by Kate Hudgins, Ph.D., TEP; Sylvia Israel, LMFT, RDT/BCT, TEP

The idea of Post Traumatic Growth, or PTG, is that survivors of traumatic events can not only heal from their trauma, but may actually grow into a stronger, more driven, and more resilient people following trauma. PTG can be understood as positive change resulting from an individual’s struggle with a major life crisis or traumatic events. This positive change typically manifests in one (or more) of five areas: a sense of new opportunities or possibilities in life, improved relationships with others, increased mental and/or emotional strength, greater appreciation for life in general and spiritual or religious deepening, which may or may not involve significant changes in beliefs.

PTG and Psychodrama’s spontaneity and creativity theory are a perfect match! Both of them seek to help us discover new ways of being. TSM, developed for working with trauma, delineates the transformative roles that foster PTG. Embodying and practicing the roles of the sleeping-awakening child, good-enough mother and father, good-enough god or transpersonal role, and appropriate and ultimate authorities are the building blocks.

This workshop is for those who are currently in therapy or on a personal journey of healing and recovery. Professionals will gain personal renewal and action tools for their life and their practice with others. This meets the requirement for entry into the TSI International Certification in Trauma Therapy Program.

Regaining your Appropriate Authority, you then mirror for clients their transferences onto you as good/bad mother or father, et al. You’ll learn the ‘asocial response’, interrupting the cycle of projecting the past into current relationships, along with other action methods to diffuse and work through transferences onto yourself and other group members. Using TSM in practice cases you will learn action interventions that will keep your group healthy and high-functioning.

This is a stand-alone workshop with immediately useable skills, or a part of the training modules for TSI’s International Certification in Trauma Therapy using the Therapeutic Spiral Model (TSM). From Freud to Neurobiology: Two Psychodrama Models to Treat PTSD

Presented by Kate Hudgins, Ph.D, TEP and Carolina Becerril Maillefert, MD.

The Congress is planned at a time when we hear almost daily about a suicide attack or an act of violence somewhere around the world. Wars and warlike situations are ongoing and recurrent. There are now more refugees than ever before. In 2015 the UN estimated 65 million displaced people in the world.

The world we grew up in – post WW II – is changing dramatically and often violently. We as group psychotherapists and group processors are being called to bring our expertise to help us all cope with these Rising Tides and to instill ‘realistic hope’.

TSM Action Healing Workshop: Examining the (Inner) Roles of the Man

Join Scott Giacomucci, Dr. Steven Durost, and a TSI Action Healing Team in this first ever Men’s TSM workshop! Together, we will increase our inner strengths, transform internalized trauma-based roles, and cultivate post-traumatic growth through sociometry, psychodrama, and the creative arts therapies. In examining our inner roles, we will discern which roles contribute to us being the best men that we can be, while also adding new roles to expand our role repertoires. This workshop is experiential in nature providing men with a safe place for personal work.

The Therapeutic Spiral Model is a clinically modified form of psychodrama developed for working safely with trauma, based on classical psychodrama, neuroscience, attachment, and experiential psychotherapy.
